Hello everyone! I'm sorry that I couldn't keep up with english blog!
So after I left New York, I went Shanghai then transferred into Sapporo Japan!
I stayed with my friend from SUNY Fredonia and with her family for a week. They were so nice and kind. I had lots of great food such as, crab, JINGISKAN(Dish with mutton and vegetables), sea urchin, and squid!
So here is the bicycle I'm riding now!
It's very simple. Not a road bike or a cross bike. It's call Mama Chari(bicycle)!
Front basket have sleeping bag, airmat, clothes.
On the back have tent, CDs, contacts, PC, etc.
The yellow bag is actually used for a dog's back. The family I stayed with gave me this and it's actually perfect size for my bike!
Before I started my long journey trip, I went to Otaru. This place has a nice beer call "Otaru beer"
After I had that, I did my first busking in Japan!
I got $20(2000yen) per hour so that wasn't bad!
In the first week of Japan, I went and played on the radio station to anounce that I am going to do this busking tour in Japan and sell CDs by bicycle!
After the radio, one of the listener got back to the radio station and asked me to come and play at their place!
They gave me a Hokki(Serf clum) curry and fresh corn from Hokkaido! It was really good!
I rode bike for about 3 and half hours in the rainy weather but that gave me back all the effort to get there lol
The show went well! The one who invited me gave me a place to stay for a night and it was at a race hourse farm!
And that was my first day of this trip on Monday 7/29! [49km]
7/30 Tuesday, [61km]
I went to Noboribetsu Hot spring!
I didn't know this place is in Hokkaido but I knew that name since I used their powder a lot when I used bath tub in the US!
First 54km was not bad at all but the last 7km was really long steep hill!
You see the smoke? That's Hotspring!
The water itself is very smoky and white.
Very hot and nice for your tired body!
Someone at the public bath saw my guitar and gave me a fresh corn! I didn't see him but I got it from the front desk when I left there! That was good:)
Since that place was national park and can't play guitar, I tent the night and slept early at near by there.
7/31 Wednesday [64km]
I guess there was a cow truck next to my tent. I had to wake up couple times by their MO- sound:(
I went to sea side and had coffee, played guitar and sketched in the morning!
After that, I went to Muroran!
My third busking was pretty good!(second was in Sapporo!)
I got a flower from a girl, coffee and coke from ladies, and I sold 3CDs in 1 hour!
After that I moved on to Toyoura!
I wasn't expecting much at here but their Sea Scallop was amazing!!!
Taste good and cheap as well!!
I was really surprised by that in a good way:)
Tent here again.
8/01 Thursday [150km]
Somehow, I met lots of travelers like me on this day!
From Toyoura to Oshamanbe was hell again! The hill was too long!!
It's only 40km but almost all of them were up hill(><)
I was too tired and started to walk a little bit.
Someone started talking to me "you alright?"
His name is Taro(22) and he came from Kyoto by bicycle. We were heading towards the same way so we decided to have lunch together!
1000yen for all you can eat Crab Rice!!!
It was really good!
While we were eating at there, another biker(cycling) came. He was 55years old but still really in a good shape and going all over in Japan by bicycle!
After the meal, I played my song "Bicycle" for them!
This day, I was going to go until Yakumo which is about 70-80km but Taro said he is going to Hakodate! Which is another 70km or so!
He said he is going to speed up to get Hakodate after this meal. He is on a cross bike. I know my bike itself is not that fast(usually) but I wanted to try and go after him as much as I can!
I ended up going to Hakodate with him lol
In te middle of Hakodate, we stopped by at Mori to meet Taro's friend.
His friend(Mr.M) was traveling by camping car!
Mr. M got his camping car after the doctor told
him he can't live too long because of the cancer.
Somehow he is still alive and doing really well!
I guess the sick can really solve by the mentality!
Mr. M was spouse to die in couple month but he's been traveling a year!
I hope he can live more and enjoy his life journey!
Mr. M got us a squid rice! I know there is another way to say in English but I forgot how to say. Here is the picture of it!
Inside squid has rice! Very good one!
It's spouced to be a very famous and popular in Mori, Hokkaido!
From Mori to Hakodate was 40km left.
We rode a bike for about 2 hours and we got into Hakodate around 10pm..
We first looked for a Hotspring but the place we went closed in 11pm so we didn't have much time:(
We tent at a park and had beer, played music and slept for a night.
8/02 Friday [Stayed in Hakodate]
We went to Hakodate Bugyousyo.
This place was deatroyed for a while ago but Japanese architect rebuilt about 3-4years ago.
They built by the same material and same way, just like how it was in late 1800.
It's really beautiful! I hope this time this will stay long!
Around noon, we went to Hotspring again!
This public bath is located on the rooftop and you can see the town, mountains, and airplane flying from the bath!
At the night, we stayed at bikers house. Like a hostel for all travelers. I was really surprised by how many people actually bike and do cross country!
On te night, we all went to Hakodate's SQUID DANCE FESTIVAL and danced all together!
Somehow we all dressed up weird way lol
We were the only group who dressed up like this but it was lots of fun!
After the festival I and Taro, with some others went to the top of Hakodate mountain!
The night view from Hakodate mountain is spouced be the night view of the best 3 in the world!
With that on my back, I played couple songs to my friends and few other sight seeing people!
They didn't say stop it so I guess it was good :)
Anyway, this is the story I got for now!
Tomorrow I'm getting on the ferry to move into Aomori prefecture! They have a huge festival at there too so I'm excited about it!
Alright! Time to go on!
Next time(^^)/
